I thought I would have a look next at what student jobs in Cardiff and the surrounding areas are available.  I was at Cardiff University for 3 years and always had a part time student job of some sort.  It helped pay my way and keep me afloat, as well as paying for a few beers obviously.

My main student jobs in Cardiff were working behind the bar in the Gala Bingo hall up off the Gabalfa roundabout.  vary glamorous and coll, not.   You go down the road past Tesco and it is next to Staples.  I also worked during my holidays at a warehouse on the Llandough Trading Estate.  I worked days and weekend to get the money in.  It was hard work but great fun with the other guys from the University that I knew.

Anyway I am drifting off the point about Cardiff student jobs  I am going to look at the temporary and summer jobs for students in Cardiff briefly as well.  They are good times to pick extra money up, especially if you get in early as obviously you can increase your hours to full time if staying in Cardiff over the break.  The other prime time is going to be Christmas part time jobs.  Now that would be difficult for most of you whose families are not in Cardiff, as you will probably want to go home for the celebrations.  But for those who stay and for those who live here it is a great opportunity for a lot of hours and money doing seasonal jobs in Cardiff for students.  Christmas student jobs in Cardiff, part time or not will probably appeal to the likes of the smaller college students, like at Glan Hafren.  So let’s not limit ourselves to the university guys and girls here.

Just as an example of what you can do with student summer jobs Cardiff has, I traded my summer at home to stay in the city and work, whilst painting the flat I rented with friends, and doing the garden instead of having to pay rent. Sweet deal,as whilst I was painting at night I used to watch the NHL playoffs and the Olympics that year.

The obvious place to start and one which I would recommend is your college or university Student’s Union.  For a start they employ students on part time basis within the institution itself.  Cardiff University jobs are managed by a specific internal job agency.  So for anyone there looking for part time Uni jobs, it is the ideal place.  Those jobs could be in the Union shops or the bars.  there could also be vacancies for Cardiff Student Union jobs which pays and is worthwhile as you will be helping benefit your fellow students as well.  The same goes for any student unions or organisations in any of the colleges around here.

Besides that, bar, hotels and shop jobs are perfect for students jobs Cardiff may offer. There are also all sorts of temporary or part time jobs for students in Cardiff.  This is especially so where there are seasonal jobs going at Christmas for example.  So your best bet is to get your walking shoes and stick your face in places or call them up direct.  If they refer you then so bit it, but otherwise you will be ahead of everyone else.  A word of warning here, be careful about taking jobs in your favourite or local pub.  It always seems better the customer side of the bar where you don’t have to clean up slops or get verbally abused.  Also if you fall out with your boss your local is going to be an awkward place to be.

Shop wise I would concentrate on Cardiff part time jobs for students at at Marks and Spencer, Tesco, Sainsbury and Asda.  These always have the most student, temporary and Saturday jobs in Cardiff.

On top of that the city is home to a thriving community of small businesses and entrepreneurs.  So you can try some of the business like IT, web services, legal and community placements.  You just have to get up and go for it.  The worst they can say is no and then you haven’t lost anything and have a lot to gain.
